TRAVEL

FLY

MADRID-BARAJAS AIRPORT, MAD

Madrid is the closest major international airport to Salamanca (about 1.5hrs by rail and 2.5hrs by car). We recommend arriving into MAD by the morning of Friday, June 5th at the latest.

TRANSPORT

RAIL

The round-trip from Madrid-Chamartín Station to Salamanca Station on the high-speed Alvia train will take about 1h 40m and cost around 45€ per person. After arriving in Salamanca, you'll take a 20-minute taxi ride to the hotel. Purchasing your train tickets ahead of time is necessary; please don't wait until your at the station to find that the day's trains are sold out!

RENTAL CAR

If you would rather drive to Salamanca on your own, here's what to consider:

Most major rental companies (like Europcar, Hertz, Avis, and Sixt) have counters at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) in Terminals 1 and 4. It’s wise to book in advance. The drive is around 2.5 hours via the A-6 and A-50 highways—well-paved, scenic, and easy to navigate.

U.S. drivers will need:
• A valid U.S. driver’s license
• An International Driving Permit (IDP)
• A passport
• A credit card in the driver's name

Tips:
• Drive on the right, overtake on the left.
• The drive passes through beautiful countryside. If you have time, a short detour to Ávila (a walled medieval city) makes for a fantastic stop!

ACCOMMODATIONS
