The Proposal

Picture this: You're headed to do your sister's bridal shower photo shoot at your favorite hometown art museum. You're stopped, seemingly abruptly by your sweaty boyfriend. He begins to walk you to the back of the museum with instructions to look straight ahead and nowhere else. Of course, you don't follow instructions and you see people hiding in the bushes around you. Suddenly your boyfriend leaves your side and you hear the Bollywood classic "Shava Shava" start to play. The lawn becomes flooded with our best girl friends but to the naked eye, they look no less than professional background dancers. Song after song plays and the space continues to fill with the people you love most in the world. Each song centered around "Mahi" carefully crafted together, takes you through a lifetime of Bollywood extravaganza. Who knew years of teaching dance performances would be paid back to you with the world's most beautiful proposal. You're crying, they're laughing, then you're laughing and you're all dancing your hearts out together.

That's not even all of it, your 90-pound good boy was in charge of bringing the token of his dad's love but he too wanted to shake a leg. You lose him to the excitement of the crowd, after all, he did sit and wait patiently for his moment. Once the real show-stopper was settled down, he wanted a front-row view of arguably the most important question his dad was ever going to ask. The love of your life gets down on one knee, and in true Yuvraj and Mahi fashion, even this moment wasn't going to be private. He proposes to you and your whole family, friends, grandma, nephews... essentially your whole heart personified. They would accept no less than to hear every word and rightfully so, they've earned this moment. With that, you say the easiest YES of your life.

Sounds like an absolute movie right? Well, that's exactly how it happened, and you can expect no less when you have a fiance, family, and friends who know just how to make a girl feel like the most adored woman alive.

Our proposal story is my second favorite story, after our love story. This moment was made by the most amazing souls in the world that we get to call our people. I am sure Yuvraj had no problem outsourcing tasks and exploiting your love for us in the weeks leading up to this proposal (Vidhi and Nehal, I know you felt my pain running those dance practices). All laughs aside, thank you for giving me the dreamest, most Bollywood-est moment that girls are left dreaming about. Because, that's what you do, Yuvraj, you have a special way of turning my dreams into my life and for that, I am eternally grateful.
