Join us the night before to celebrate your arrival and good company. We’ll be enjoying fresh, wood-fired pizza and gelato.

Please come dressed in cocktail attire and shoes appropriate for grass and gravel.

The pizza party will be held in the Celsa Castle's garden.

We will not be providing transportation for this event, so please plan accordingly.

GLOBAL ENTRY

Global entry is not required to travel to Italy, however, it will save you time going through customs. Some benefits of global entry include:

Reduced wait times with self-service kiosks or E-Gates using facial comparison technologies. No paperwork to be filled out by passengers upon entry. Includes TSA PreCheck. Global Entry program members can use Global Entry Customs Kiosks at more than 75 airports when returning to the U.S. from travel abroad.

FLIGHTS

INTO FLORENCE

We’re so grateful that you’re traveling all the way to Italy to celebrate this special day with us. Having you there truly means the world to us.
The best most direct way to get there is by flying into Florence (FLR). Florence is an incredibly beautiful and romantic city to explore if you have time. Siena is about 1.5 hours by car or train from Florence.

Train: The train ride costs about $20 and arrives directly in downtown Siena, close to many hotels.

Please note we will be providing a wedding shuttle on the day of the ceremony to and from the town of Siena. For more information on shuttle bus transportation look under FAQs.

Train Rides Rental Cars

INTO PISA

Pisa Airport (Galileo Galilei Airport) is a good and often more affordable option. While there are only a few direct trains to Siena each week, frequent connections with transfers are available. Plan ahead and allow about two hours for the journey.

INTO ROME

The Rome airport is the international hub for flights from the US. We highly recommend starting your trip in this beautiful and historic city if you have time. To travel from Rome to Florence, it is only a 90 minute, $25 train ride between the two cities. Or you can rent a car for the scenic drive from Rome to Siena, Tuscany (3 hours).

INTO MILAN

If you choose to fly into Milan there is an option to take the scenic, high-speed train ride to Florence that takes about 1.5 hours. From there, you could rent a car in Florence and arrive in Siena in 1 hour. A less expensive option than renting a car is to take a second train from Florence to Siena city center, which takes an hour and fifteen minutes.

RENTING A CAR

If you plan to rent a car in Italy, it's advised to obtain an international driving permit from AAA for $20. All Italian car rental agencies will rent a car to you without an international driver's license, but if you get pulled over, you may get a ticket for not having one.

DESCRIPTION OF SIENA

Siena is like stepping into a living medieval painting.

Set in central Italy’s Tuscan hills, about an hour south of Florence and far from the coast, the city is built across a series of ridges. It’s built almost entirely from warm terracotta and honey-colored stone, with streets that curve and tilt as they climb uphill. You’re often walking uphill without quite realizing it, following narrow lanes that suddenly open into wide, light-filled squares. The layout feels shaped by the land as much as by time.

At the heart of Siena is Piazza del Campo, a wide, shell-shaped square that slopes gently downward. People naturally sit on the ground here, basking in the sun, as if the square were a natural amphitheater. From it rises a tall, elegant tower that watches over the city like a quiet guardian.

The air smells faintly of espresso, old stone warmed by the sun, and Tuscan cooking drifting from hidden kitchens. Church bells echo off the walls, and laundry sometimes hangs between buildings above your head. Cars are rare in the center, so most sounds are footsteps, voices, and the occasional musician.

TRUFFLE HUNTING

Take a break from sightseeing and head to the Tuscan countryside surrounding Siena to join a local forager on a truffle hunt through the woods. Follow your host and his pups across the hills as they search out precious tubers and learn all there is to know about truffles and the dogs trained to hunt them. Afterwards, head back to Siena to sample a number of truffle products in a local gourmet shop.

FAQs

TRANSPORTATION FOR WEDDING EVENTS

Friday and Saturday's wedding activities will be held at Castello di Celsa. This includes the welcome dinner, and the wedding day events. The address to the Celsa Castle is SP 101 di Montemaggio, 20. 53018 Sovicille - Siena

Wedding Day Transportation

We’ve arranged transportation for guests staying at Four Points Sheraton Siena to the ceremony at Castello di Celsa.

Shuttle bus will arrive at 3:45 PM, and the until the final departure will be at 4:00 PM.

For guests not staying at Four Points, please work directly with your concierge to arrange a taxi or use appTaxi, as the other hotels suggested are only a few moments drive from the shuttle pick up.

End of Night Transportation

To get everyone home safely, we’ve arranged two vans running at the following times:

10:30 PM departure

1:00 AM departure

The shuttle bus will drop guests back off at the Four Points by Sheraton. Guests will have to make arrangements if they are staying elsewhere on how to get back to their hotel from Four Points.

The Four Points is about 30 minute drive from the castle.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE TO THE CEREMONY

Please arrive 15-30 minutes before the ceremony start time to allow time for parking and seating. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 PM, and we'd love to have everyone settled in before it starts.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE

The dress code for the wedding day is black-tie. Men are encouraged to wear tuxedos or black suits, and women may wear formal dresses or evening gowns. Wearing black is not required.

For our Welcome Dinner, dress code is cocktail attire. Men do not need to wear jackets, as we know you are traveling in and have limited packing space.

Some of our events will take place on grass and stone, so we recommend women avoid stilettos or thin heels. Block heels, wedges, or flats will be much more comfortable (and safer!) for the setting.

CAN I TAKE PICTURES DURING THE CEREMONY

We've hired professional photographers to capture every moment. We kindly ask that you refrain from taking photos and using your cellphones during the ceremony and enjoy being present with us.

WILL THE WEDDING BE INDOORS OR OUTDOORS

The wedding will be held outdoors and in case of rain, we will set up in the barn. The temperature in Siena in June falls within the range of 75°F - 82°F.

CAN I BRING A PLUS-ONE?

Unfortunately, space is limited. Only guests whose invitations explicitly include a plus-one may bring a guest.

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?

While we love your little ones, we've decided to make our wedding an adults-only celebration.
