Our Story

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Others begin with a single glance across a crowded room, and an unshakeable sense of knowing.

For Krista, that moment came at a college hockey party at the University of Louisville. Her eyes found Yannis across the room, and without missing a beat, she turned to her best friend Kiki and said the words that would prove to be nothing short of prophetic:

“That’s going to be my husband one day.”

She wasn’t wrong.

Yannis was the captain of the Ice Hockey Team, steady, driven, and commanding in the way that captains tend to be. Krista was the head flyer for the cheerleading team, fearless, radiant, and the kind of person who lights up every room she enters. On paper, they were a perfect match. But love, as it often does, took its own sweet time.
For months, the two existed in that beautiful, electric space of friendship, talking constantly, and building something neither of them could quite name yet. Then came the moment that changed everything.
Krista was at a concert with her sisters, lost in the music, dancing freely, living her best life, when she posted a video of herself in the moment. Yannis saw it instantly. No hesitation, no overthinking. Just one word in the comments:

“Dibs.”

He was hooked.

Their first official date was dinner at an Italian restaurant in Louisville, where over candlelight and good wine, they discovered what they already suspected, that they were meant for each other. The conversation flowed effortlessly, the laughter came easily, and somewhere between the pasta and the dessert menu, Krista made a confession that sealed the deal. She was, undoubtedly and wholeheartedly, a Coors Light girl (Yannis’s favorite beer). Yannis was shocked and completely smitten.

Two years of university love followed, the kind of relationship built on late nights, shared dreams, and the quiet certainty that this was it. And when graduation came, rather than following the expected path, Krista and Yannis chose something bold, something breathtaking, something entirely their own.

They chose Banff.

Taking a girl raised under the golden skies of Los Angeles to the snowcapped peaks of the Canadian Rockies was no small undertaking. There were adjustments, challenges, and more than a few moments of “what the heck are we doing?” But they faced every one of them together, with perseverance, humor, and a love strong enough to make even the coldest mountain winters feel warm.

Banff isn’t just where they live. It’s where they became, a home they chose, built, and made entirely their own.

And now, surrounded by the people they love most, Krista and Yannis are ready for the next great adventure, the biggest one yet.
