Meaghan and Brian met in January 2023 in a way that many people claim is impossible; through dating apps; Hinge, specifically. Brian was caught by Meaghan's interesting hobbies (such as rugby and bookbinding) and her Kim Possible Halloween costume, and Meaghan was swept off her feet by Brian's 6ft1 stature, and his video of a kiss on the cheek from a friend.

Meaghan had only just moved back to Boston after a few years of school and work took her to New York and New Jersey, and neither of them had the mindset of getting into a "serious relationship" at the time. After a first date at one of Boston's premier cocktail bars, The Tam, they both left the date thinking "that went well. I don't know if there was a romantic connection, but I'd love to be friends with them."

Fortunately, that feeling didn't last, as first date turned into a second and third, eventually spending almost every day with one another (so much time that Brian's old landlord thought she started living with him!), they both found their love for each other blossoming.

Eventually, these dates turned into meeting and getting to know and love each other's friends and family, whether that was through beach trips, weddings, movies, baseball games, Renaissance Faires -- they just wanted to do it together. Before they knew it, a yearly tradition was forming where they would go away together for both Meaghan's birthday, as well as the anniversary of their first date. Vacations can be a test for many relationships, but Meaghan and Brian found their love deepened in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and eventually Spain.

Meaghan and Brian got their first apartment together in July 2024. They have always had a shared love and passion for animals, so moving into a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with their 3 pets, Eileen, Maya, and Benji didn't sound like an issue to them. So much so that after only a month of living together, they rescued their 4th pet, Rue. They've since moved into a house together with their "zoo," which is when the real conversations started - when are we getting engaged?

Meaghan and Brian boarded a plane for Spain on December 31, 2025, to visit Brian's sister and brother in law, Catherine and Ysmael (Ys). While they were in Spain, in a hub of romanticism, they agreed that getting engaged in Europe might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so they decided to make it happen. On January 8, 2026, Meaghan's 30th birthday, they picked out their ring in Barcelona, where Meaghan insisted on wearing it before the proposal even happened to ensure Brian doesn't lose it. About one hour later, Brian was down on one knee proposing to Meaghan at Park Güell.
