Arriving in Florence
Florence
Getting to Florence
The villas we have booked for everyone will be around 45 minutes to 1 hour from Florence, Italy. You will need to fly into the Florence airport unless you will be traveling in Italy prior and want to take a train. We are recommending that everyone flies into Europe at least two or three days before the wedding festivities begin so you have time to adjust. You should be able to start price watching flights in late November, so keep your eyes out for the best flight deals! We recommend Hopper!
Places to stay in Florence
We recommend looking on Airbnb for places to stay in Florence. We used Airbnb during our last trip to Florence and it was affordable and had plenty of options. Check reviews prior to booking! If you prefer a hotel we have linked a few options below.
Car Rentals
We are recommending that everyone rent a car prior to traveling to the villas. You do not necessarily need to get a car rental as soon as you arrive in Florence because parking is limited, there are plenty of taxis and you will most likely be walking around a lot. We are recommending that you get your car rental the day before or on the morning of traveling to the Villa. Most people can carpool with another couple or family member as most car rentals can fit up to 4 or more people. Just make sure you are considering luggage space when deciding on what to book.
If you are not interested in renting a car, we understand and it shouldn't be a problem. We can arrange transportation and provide other options at a later date.
Traveling to Europe Checklist
CHECK YOUR PASSPORT
Friendly reminder to check your passport expiration date. Your passport must be valid six months prior to the departure date, so if you need to renew, please schedule that appointment. If you do not have a passport we highly recommend taking care of that at least three months prior to the wedding date.
ETIAS FORM - NO LONGER NEEDED
Starting in 2025 the EU is requiring all US travelers to fill out and apply for an ETIAS visa. (European Travel Information and Authorization System) It is a simple application process and most applicants will receive approval within minutes. The cost is 7 euros which is around $7.82. You will need your passport to complete the application. The website for the form is linked below.
UPDATE: No longer required until Q4 of 2026. You do not need to fill out an application this year.
