Our Guide to Cannes
One of the reasons we love Cannes is that it offers a little bit of everything: beautiful beaches, incredible restaurants, charming cafés, boutique shopping, and picturesque streets perfect for wandering. We hope you’ll have time to explore and enjoy some of our favorite spots while you’re here.
Restaurants
La Môme - great atmosphere on a private street, party vibe
La Petite Maison - lively French restaurant in Palm Beach
Il Grande - lively Italian restaurant in Palm Beach
Zuma Cannes - Sushi in Palm Beach
La Palme d’Or - Michelin-starred fine dining at Hôtel Martinez
Bâoli - lively dinner spot in Palm Beach that transitions into a nightclub later in the evening
Salama - Moroccan restaurant with a great atmosphere on the same street as La Môme
Bobo Bistro - one of the best classic French bistros in Cannes
Anna - Greek restaurant on La Croisette
Explore Le Suquet
One of our favorite ways to spend an evening is simply wandering through Le Suquet, Cannes’ charming Old Town. Its cobblestone streets are lined with traditional French bistros, cozy Italian trattorias, wine bars, and cafés. Pick a restaurant that catches your eye and you really can’t go wrong.
Cafés & Bakeries
Saddle
Ladurée
Café Crème
Amamo
Boulangerie du Midi
Grab a coffee and pastry before strolling along La Croisette or exploring the Old Town.
Beach Clubs
Spend the day soaking up the Riviera sunshine
Lucia Cannes
La Môme Plage
Annex Beach
Copal Beach
La Guérite (lunch seatings book out months in advance)
Shopping
La Croisette
Le Carré d’Or
Rue d'Antibes
Whether you’re browsing luxury boutiques or searching for the perfect souvenir, these are our favorite areas to explore.
On the Water
One of our favorite ways to experience the Riviera is by boat.
Rent a boat for the day and cruise to:
Cap d’Antibes
The Lérins Islands
Stop for a swim, anchor in a quiet cove, or enjoy lunch overlooking the Mediterranean.
Markets
Don’t miss Marché Forville, Cannes’ famous farmers market. It’s the perfect place to discover fresh produce, flowers, local cheeses, pastries, and Provençal specialties before wandering through Le Suquet.
Make a Vacation of It
We hope you’ll take some time to enjoy everything the South of France has to offer. Whether you spend a few extra days relaxing on the beach, exploring the scenic countryside of Provence, or visiting nearby villages along the Riviera, we know you’ll fall in love with this special part of the world just as we have.
If You Have an Extra Day
Antibes
One of the easiest and most charming day trips from Cannes. Wander through the Old Town, explore the harbor, stop for lunch, and spend some time by the water.
Saint-Paul-de-Vence
A beautiful medieval hilltop village filled with galleries, winding stone streets, and incredible views. It’s especially lovely paired with a long lunch in the countryside.
Théoule-sur-Mer
Just down the coast from Cannes, Théoule is perfect for a relaxed beach day with dramatic red cliffs, clear water, and a quieter Riviera feel.
Mougins
A picturesque hilltop village known for art, galleries, and wonderful restaurants. It’s an easy escape from Cannes and especially nice for lunch or an early dinner.
If You Have 2-3 Extra Days
Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer & Èze
A classic Côte d’Azur route. Spend time exploring Nice, then visit colorful Villefranche-sur-Mer and the hilltop village of Èze. These destinations are close enough to combine into a beautiful few days along the eastern Riviera.
Saint-Tropez
For beaches, restaurants, shopping, and a little Riviera glamour, head west to Saint-Tropez. We recommend staying at least one night rather than trying to squeeze it into a rushed day trip.
Menton
A colorful seaside town near the Italian border, known for beautiful gardens, pastel buildings, and a more relaxed pace. It’s also a natural stop if you’re continuing your trip into Italy.
If You Have 3-5 Extra Days: Provence
Aix-en-Provence
A lively and beautiful Provençal city filled with cafés, markets, shops, and tree-lined streets. It makes a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside.
The Luberon Valley
One of our favorite parts of Provence. Base yourself near Gordes and spend your days exploring nearby villages such as Lourmarin and Roussillon, stopping for long lunches and local markets along the way.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence & Les Baux-de-Provence
A perfect pairing for a few days in Provence. Saint-Rémy is charming and relaxed, while Les Baux is a dramatic medieval village set high in the Alpilles with incredible views.
Cassis
A beautiful seaside town east of Marseille, known for its harbor, local wine, and access to the Calanques. A great choice if you want to combine Provence with a few more days by the water.
A Note on Lavender
If you’re extending your trip after the wedding, you may begin to see lavender blooming in parts of Provence by mid-June, particularly around Valensole. Timing varies each year depending on the weather, so we recommend checking conditions before planning a lavender-specific day trip.
Registry
Your presence in France is truly the greatest gift we could ask for.
If you wish to honor us with a gift, we’ve put together a registry featuring pieces we’ll enjoy for years to come, along with experiences for our honeymoon.
Thank you for helping us begin this next chapter together!
