						Our Cabo Story
It’s funny how life has a way of surprising you when you least expect it. On December 30th, 2019, in Cabo San Lucas, two people — complete strangers — happened to cross paths on a vacation neither of us could have guessed would change everything.
The night before, Taylor glanced up at a clear Cabo sky, spotted a shooting star, and made a wish. Not just a passing thought — but the kind of wish you whisper into the universe when you’re hoping for something real… the kind of wish you hold onto long before you ever know what it really means.
And the very next day, in true Cody Joe fashion, in he strolled — kamikaze shot in hand, fueled by just enough liquid courage, and his dads boat to use as a pick up line he casted out his bait. He’d spent his trip casting lines and chasing fish… yet somehow, his best catch had been waiting right in front of him.
What happened next wasn’t some grand romantic gesture or movie-worthy moment. It was simple… and perfect. We talked. We laughed. We fished. We kissed. And if we’re being honest — that’s pretty much how the rest of the trip went. It felt easy, natural, like we’d known each other far longer than a few sun-soaked days. Somewhere between the sea spray, late-night conversations, and slightly questionable choices, we found ourselves falling — fast.
When the vacation ended, reality hit hard. We lived on opposite sides of the country, with different lives waiting for us back home. But instead of letting that pull us apart, it pulled us closer. What began as a chance meeting turned into flights back and forth, endless phone calls, and a connection that somehow kept getting stronger, despite the miles in between. We built something real — a love rooted in friendship, trust, plenty of laughter, and yes… a hefty stash of frequent flyer points.
Though Chicago will always be Taylor’s first home — the city that raised her, grounded her, and holds so many of her favorite memories — love gently pulled her west. Last year, she made the move to Oregon to be with Cody, leaving behind the distance for something deeper: slow mornings together, shared routines, and the kind of everyday moments that make a place feel like home. Now, home isn’t just a location — it’s wherever they’re building their life together, hand in hand.
Coming on to six years since that Cabo spark, it’s time to make it official — and head back to where it all started.
Cabo gave us more than memories — it gave us each other. So it only feels right to return to the place where it all began to start this next chapter, surrounded by the family and friends who mean the world to us. We’re beyond grateful you’re part of our story… and we can’t wait to celebrate with you — under the sun, by the sea, and wrapped in all the love this wild, beautiful journey has brought our way.
