Jordan and Eric’s love story began a few nights before New Year’s Eve 2024 in “Music City.” On a whim, Eric convinced two of his friends to travel to Nashville, Tennessee for the holiday — an unusual destination for a city slicker like him. A few nights before ringing in the New Year, Eric and his friends were walking back to their hotel in the early morning hours when they heard live music pouring out of the infamous Broadway honky tonk, Tootsies. Despite being tired, life-of-the-party Eric convinced his friends to stop in for “one quick song.”

Unimpressed with the cover band playing on the first floor, he lured them upstairs for “one more quick song” by a different band. Little did he know that among the neon lights and beer-soaked dance floor, he would find his future husband.

Also on a whim, Jordan was in Nashville celebrating New Year’s Eve with friends. When Eric approached the lead singer to request “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac, she smiled and told him another guy in the crowd had already asked for the same song. With a tilt of her cowgirl hat and a nod in Jordan’s direction, Eric found out who it was.

Fast forward several “quick songs” later — Jordan approached Eric and asked if he could buy him a drink. Eric politely declined the drink, but stayed to talk. The talking soon turned to dancing, and the dancing soon turned into the start of something beautiful. The next morning, Jordan texted Eric “good morning” — and has done so every day since.

For Eric and Jordan, nothing short of fate could have orchestrated such a meeting. Of all the places in the world, of all the honky tonks in Nashville, and of all the floors of live music in Tootsies, fate alone could have placed them in the exact same spot, at the exact same time, requesting the exact same song.

A few weeks later, Jordan flew to New York City from North Carolina — where he was finishing medical school — to take Eric on their first official date. They went to Sartiano’s in SoHo, the same restaurant where, a year and a half later, they would celebrate their engagement surrounded by family and friends. Starting a relationship long-distance came with challenges, but they both knew this was something special — something worth every mile.

In May of their first year together, Jordan matched into an Anesthesia residency at Mount Sinai in New York City. Of all the cities in the world, he matched in the same one as Eric — and fate prevailed yet again. A year later, Jordan and Eric moved in together, transforming Eric’s Manhattan apartment into their first shared home — a warm and elegant haven, where laughter fills the rooms, love continues to flourish , and the comforting sense of having found one’s true partner settled gently into everyday life.
