Our wedding planner
We are so excited to celebrate our wedding with you all and have spent the last year planning with the help of our fairy godmother, Francesca.
We met Francesca in March 2025 after being drawn to her positive, can-do attitude. She took us to 5 unique destinations where we could see ourselves getting married, all wonderful in their own ways. Together with Ed's parents, we explored vineyards overlooking the lake, a private island on the lake, and even a grand castle! Francesca had spent time getting to know us and had saved the best for last, a medieval fortress!
Fortezza di Sorano
Step into a dream suspended in time within the majestic walls of the Orsini Fortress, a historic gem carved into Sorano's tuff stone.
The Orsini Fortress is the symbolic monument of Sorano, an imposing fortress of medieval origin that dominates the town from above.
The fortress was built in the twelfth century, with the function of residence of the Aldobrandeschi family, inherited from the Orsini at the end of the twelfth century, the fortress became the official residence of the family and the command center of the Orsini county.

Travelling to Sorano
We usually fly to Rome-Fiumicino (FCO), the larger international hub 95 miles from Sorano, or Rome-Ciampino (CIA) 107 miles from Sorano with regular flights from Easyjet, Vueling and other airlines departing from the United Kingdom.
We highly recommend a hire car as Sorano is not easy to reach by public transport. You can pick up and drop of the hire car from the airport. Please note: you will need to bring your credit card, passport, and driving license to hire any car.

Accommodation:
Apartments and/or villas, each with a private entrance, spacious living room with kitchenette (minimum occupancy of two bedrooms per apartment), double / twin / triple bedrooms or single bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, and either a furnished outdoor loggia on the ground floor or a furnished balcony on the first floor.
Rate: €92.00 per person per night
The rate includes:
• Accommodation
• Buffet breakfast with sweet and savoury options (cakes and biscuits prepared by our chefs using our organic flours, local cured meats, and cheeses)
• Access to the Thermal Pool, fed by natural spring waters at 37.5°C
• Access to the Sports Pool
• Use of the ancient bath known as “Il Bagno dei Frati” (15th century), located in the woods and directly fed by two thermal springs emerging from the rock
• Use of parasol and sun loungers according to the number of booked adult guests
• Bathrobe in the room
• Bed linen and towels
• Water, electricity, and gas consumption
• Final cleaning
The rate does not include:
• Single-use room supplement: €20.00 per day
• Tourist tax, applied locally: €2.00 per person per day (for guests aged 14–80), up to a maximum of 4 consecutive days

Spa treatments, natural spring pools, a golf course, and delicious food all in one place 😍 We got a day pass at the spa which included use of all the thermal pools (there are loads - we didn’t even try them all!), a spa treatment and use of other facilities like saunas, steam rooms and relaxation rooms. It was a day well spent! We had a delicious lunch from the poolside bar. They also have a fancier restaurant which looks very nice. We highly recommend this resort for anyone looking to relax in a beautiful and peaceful space.

Enjoy more of Italy
If you’d like to spend more than 2 nights in Italy, we would recommend checking out the towns surrounding Lake Bolsena. For many years, we have loved exploring these areas, and we’ve shared so many special memories there. In fact, we originally wanted to get married on one of the islands on the lake!
You can find lovely hotels and Airbnb’s in the town of Bolsena which are within driving or walking distance to the serene lake.
Roam the charming village streets, indulge in delicious food, and hire a little boat to zoom around the two beautiful islands on the lake!

If you’re flying into Rome, stop off in the port city of Civitavecchia and treat yourself to some gelato!
We tried the peach, hazelnut (with whole nuts!), and salted pistachio - the best!
You can sit outside with a view of the harbour and soak up the sun ☀️
Lago di Bolsena
Our favourite place - Europe’s largest volcanic lake
The Bennett’s have enjoyed many holidays by the lake - for over 20 years.
This tranquil lake is our favourite place and we have shared so many wonderful memories here.
The town of Bolsena is charming, and in the summer is covered with huge hydrangeas lakeside. With restaurants, cafes, and gelateria aplenty, Bolsena will keep you full and happy!
