travel

Passport Requirement (IMPORTANT)

Please make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival and departure date in the Philippines. This is a strict entry requirement, and travelers with passports expiring sooner may not be allowed to enter.

flights

When traveling from international airports around the world, reaching Boracay is straightforward with several flexible options.

Most travelers will fly into either Manila or Cebu, where frequent domestic flights connect to Caticlan—the closest airport to the island. We personally always opt to fly directly from LAX to Manila, via Philippine Airlines.

From there, a brief land transfer and boat ride will bring you directly to Boracay. This service is provided by our preferred hotel, Shangri-La, and does not require additional planning on your part. Note this service is for guests staying at Shangri-La only.

ARRIVING TIPS:
If you are flying internationally into Manila (starting from CA, NY, TX, Japan, Thailand, Canada), we highly recommend giving yourself a minimum 3 hours in between connecting flights to Caticlan (Boracay).

DEPARTING TIPS:
When leaving Boracay island, we recommend NOT taking the last flight out of the island. This is due to weather constraints.

POPULAR AIRLINES:
1. Philippine Airlines
2. Cebu Pacific
3. AirSWIFT (For El Nido only in Palawan)

about boracay

Boracay is one of the Philippines’ most loved tropical islands—famous for its powder-soft white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, vibrant sunsets, and luxurious island vibe.

There’s no end to the number of activities and experiences to discover on the island. Less than an hour away from Manila by plane, Boracay Island is located in the Visayan region of the Philippines, remains one of the “Top Ten Beaches of the World."

Boracay's famous White Beach—a 4 km stretch of white sand—is divided into three areas called Stations. We will be hosting our wedding at Station 0, with Station 2 being a 30min drive away.

Nestled along the northern shores of Boracay, the pristine 800-meter stretch of Yapak Beach, better known as Puka Beach, is renowned for its powdery white sand mixed with naturally occurring puka shells.

TRAVEL CHECK-LIST

Order Philippine Pesos

Order some Philippine pesos (PHP) from your bank before you leave. Ask for small bills if possible (PHP 500, 100, 50).

Check Your Passport

Make sure your passport will be valid for at least 6 months after your trip.

Screenshot Your Flights & Itinerary

Save screenshots of your flight tickets and full itinerary on your phone. You may need to show your ticket to enter the airport or during your trip, so don’t rely on having Wi-Fi or cell service.

Check Your Luggage Allowance

Check the baggage weight limit for every flight, especially domestic flights within the Philippines. Your luggage allowance may be different from your international flight. If they differ, you may be able to pay a fee for overweight baggage on domestic flights.

Check Your Phone Plan

Check if your phone plan works in the Philippines. If you can, add an international plan before your trip. Many carriers only charge for international data on the days you use it. You may not always have Wi-Fi, and using data without an international plan can cost you hundreds within minutes.

Download WhatsApp

Yes, you need it. We have a wedding chat with our planning team that will help keep everyone informed. WhatsApp allows us to communicate without using data and is roaming-free. Many hotels and restaurants also communicate via WhatsApp.

72 HOURS BEFORE TRAVEL

Complete Your eTravel Form — REQUIRED

Complete the free eTravel form within 72 hours before arriving in the Philippines.
DO NOT FILL OUT MORE THAN 72 HOURS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.

This is the official Philippine government website and registration is free.

Screenshot Your eTravel QR Code

Save your QR code to your phone after you finish so it’s easy to pull up when needed.

frequently asked questions

How can I best prepare for my trip?

Review our entire Philippines Check-List here!

Passport Requirement (IMPORTANT)

Please make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival and departure date in the Philippines. This is a strict entry requirement, and travelers with passports expiring sooner may not be allowed to enter.

I need help booking travel — will you be offering assistance?

Yes! We’ll be providing access to our trusted travel advisor who can help you with flights should you choose to fly Philippine Airlines.
We want the travel planning process to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. Please reach out to us if you would like to use this service.

When is the best time to book travel?

We recommend booking your flights + accommodations no later than May 2026. The earlier, the better.

Boracay is a popular destination year-round, and our wedding is at the start of peak season. Booking early will give you better flight options at favorable rates and access to our room block.

What if we need to reach you while in the Philippines?

Please download WhatsApp to reach us. WhatsApp works for iPhones and Androids when connected to WiFi. We also highly recommend activating your international plans with your cellphone carrier in case you need to use your data. Doing so will help keep roaming costs reasonable.

Can we bring our kids?

We love your little ones, but we are planning an adults-only wedding ceremony and reception.
However, we understand that traveling to Boracay is a big trip, and families may be bringing children along.

To make things easier, Shangri-La Boracay has a kids’ club on-site, and we will be extending their hours during our ceremony & reception so children can be comfortably cared for while parents celebrate with us.

What if we’re staying somewhere else but want to utilize the kids’ club at Shangri-La?

For safety and supervision reasons, the kids’ club is only available to guests staying at Shangri-La. If you’re staying offsite and bringing children, we suggest booking at Shangri-La for the night of the wedding or arranging care with a trusted adult traveling with you.

Will the wedding be in sand?

Yes. The Ceremony is on grass, and the Reception will be in firm sand. Block heels are recommended for ladies. We will be outdoors for both the ceremony & reception, so please plan accordingly.

Do I have a plus one?

Please reference our RSVP page to confirm how many attendees are included as part of your invitation.

What’s the weather like in Boracay?

Boracay has a tropical climate—expect temperatures between 78–90°F. The dry season (peak beach weather) runs roughly November to May. Light rain showers can happen anytime, but they’re usually brief and refreshing.

Should I bring cash?

Yes. The local currency is the Philippine Peso (₱). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and most shops, however, it’s helpful and preferred to carry cash for small vendors, tricycles, and market stalls for everyday ease.

Visit your local bank and request Philippine Pesos at least 3 weeks in advance of your departure. You will get the best exchange rate this way.
