Our Story

It all started in August 2019. Brittany, a proud Midwesterner originally from Michigan and living in Chicago at the time, found herself in Baltimore on a work trip. In true modern fashion, she and Myles swiped right on each other on Bumble.

Brittany had never been to Baltimore before and was looking to fill some time in her work schedule. And of course, to her, meeting a complete stranger in a new city where she knew no one and nothing about the city sounded like a fantastic idea. Myles, a Baltimore resident and Maryland native, graciously offered to show the self proclaimed Midwestern girl around some of his favorite local spots.

Their first date was at Little Havana, a staple right on the Baltimore Harbor. There were endless laughs over paella and sangria, and that is where their journey truly began. What was supposed to be just one fun night turned into multiple dates that week before Brittany headed back to Chicago.

What began as a fun week in a new city and meeting a great person quickly turned into something much more. Back in Chicago, Brittany returned to her normal life, but whenever Myles found himself visiting friends in the city, he made sure to reach out and see her.

When 2020 arrived and the world shut down, Brittany and Myles found ways to stay close despite the distance. Through countless FaceTime calls, virtual games, and long conversations about movies and TV shows, they became best friends. The world may have shut down, but their connection only grew stronger. Myles’ friends knew Brittany as “that girl from Chicago,” and Brittany’s friends referred to Myles as “the Baltimore guy.” But to each other, they were something much more.

In 2021, when travel began to open up again, Brittany found herself on a flight back to Baltimore. After nearly two years of building something special across state lines, they finally made it official. The rest, as they say, is history.

For the next two years, they mastered long distance while Brittany finished graduate school at Northwestern in Chicago. There were monthly flights between Chicago and Baltimore, weekly Sunday date nights over FaceTime, countless airport pickups, and a lot of calendar coordination. In 2023, Brittany made the big move east to Washington, DC to be closer to Myles and begin their next chapter together.

After four years of planes, trains, cars, and everything in between to keep them connected, on June 21, 2025, during a trip to New York City, inside a vintage photo booth at a cozy hole-in-the-wall restaurant in SoHo called The Folly, Myles asked Brittany to marry him. And of course, she said "yes!"
